David loved his wife, Michal, but he had to leave her behind
when he ran off to war. He married more wives then, had lots of sons, won lots
of battles, and was crowned king over all. Meanwhile Michal married someone
else, but David loved her still and made her come home. Then David fell for Bathsheba,
married another man’s wife, and had even more children.
He wrote love songs for
his wives and for God, then wrote more songs, wondering if God could ever forgive
his crimes. God answered, “I love you David, and I’ll never leave you behind.”
