Moses had two mothers and loved them both. One was a slave;
the other an Egyptian princess. One taught Moses about God. The other taught
him to read, write and do arithmetic. And both mothers wept when Moses got into
trouble and had to leave home. Then Moses fell in love with a priest’s daughter,
in faraway Midian. He married her, had two sons and let his beloved wife choose
his religion, until God spoke from a burning bush. Then Moses learned he had
one God, and this one God loved Moses and all his families, Jewish, Egyptian
and Midian.
